Apple Pie is a blog following the adventures of a Northern girl based in London now living in New York City. A Graphic Design student studying at the Fashion Institute of Technology for one semester.
Last weekend Miriam and I took the subway to Inwood Park on the upper west side of New York. After a long walk all around the park we ended up at The Cloisters - a branch of The Metropolitan Museum of Art devoted to the art and architecture of medieval Europe.
We stopped for a quick coffee at India Road Cafe. They serve stripy cake.
Book made for mid-term bookbinding class. Hand drawn mono-prints inspired by New York with Tortoise shell Japanese stab bind.
The brief was to make an autobigraphical book without text (with some exceptions) and to chose a suitable binding for the chosen materials. I used 75gsm sketch paper and black, red and blue inks. Each page is french folded and the cover is pages from an old atlas I found. I would like to redo the book by removing the cover and replacing it with something much bolder, perhaps a heavier weight blue or red with a title printed over.
Halloween in NYC was crazy, so over the top and so much hype. I dressed as a nurse for one night and Miss America for the parade. Still sorting through photographs but parade images to come soon.
