Jeffrey Campbells

First day of classes at FIT starts tomorrow. A day late, due to Irene. I'm ready; Macbook charged. Timetable written out. New moleskine and fine liner purchased. Ray Bans polished.

I am taking the following classes: Graphic Design I, Digital imagery (Photoshop), Digital layout II (InDesign), Web page construction, Screen print with typography and imagery, Bookbinding and Advanced typography.

Tree

The worst damage I saw while walking the streets of Manhattan yesterday: a tree fallen down outside my halls. We walked right down to the south west but the only other damage we saw were branches pulled from trees and a couple of broken windows. NYC is up and running as normal today.

Irene

Hurricane Irene hits NYC. I had a walk about yesterday before remaining inside. The top photograph is 6th Av. at about 5:30pm. The whole city shut down, all the streets empty.

Vogue Japan

On Wednesday I got snapped by a blogger from Japanese Vogue outside FIT. http://blog.talk.vogue.co.jp/motoharu-miwa/

Di Fara

Yesterday I went to Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. It was a lovely day which ended with a trip to the much anticipated Di Fara Pizza on Avenue J in Brooklyn. I'm fairly certain it is The Best pizza I have ever eaten, and that's coming from an Italian. For more info watch this documentary.

Nadal in Macy's

The new face of Armani Jeans. First celebrity spotting in NYC. Having already had heavy rain and an earthquake this week, I hear a hurricane is forecast this weekend. Time for some gallery time I think.

Meatpacking

Today I walked a lot. Washington Square, Greenwich Village, Soho and the Meatpacking district. Definitely areas I want to revisit over and over. Only a few days of sightseeing left before College starts on Monday. Heavy rain and thunder forecast.

KFC in Herald Square

My mother has requested to see a little more text on this blog. It seems the blog titles aren't enough. The titles (by the way), refer to the most memorable or enjoyable thing that happened that day. Today I finished registering for all my classes (excellent) and the majority of orientation was finished (very excellent indeed) so it's now time to enjoy the last few days of exploring NYC before studying starts on Monday. It all kicked off nicely with a walk around 8th Av West where we found Rags-A-GoGo, a vintage clothing store with an eccentric yet brilliant owner. Later, with my new pals, we went for walk, now a frequent evening activity. There was a break in the middle of the walk for KFC in Herald Square. The proper adventures start tomorrow, after a good night's rest.
